Onboard vacuum foodwaste handling system
The Rothenburg vacuum on- board foodwaste handling system was designed to meet the latest requirements of an installation on board of first class passenger cruise vessels. The system meets the requirements of the U.S. Public Health and U.S. Coast Guard regulations as well as European HACCP standards.
Based on vacuum conveying technology, the system allows clean and easy handling of all food waste generated on board. It is completely automatic and designed as a closed system which avoids bad smell and noisy equipment in the galleys. Feeding or input stations are available in several designs and can be located in different galley areas, restaurants, in dish-and potwashing rooms e.t.c.

In general the food waste is vacuum fed from the feeding station to a collecting tank. Before it enters the collecting tank it has to pass through an inline shredder which pulps down the waste into small particles. The collecting tank has its own homogenizer which again reduces the particle size. A dewatering unit then separates a certain amount of water from the waste before it is discharged either into a food waste dryer or incinerator.
To separate grease and sludge from the galley grey water Rothenburg offers the unique Lipomat system which automaticly ex-tracts fat and sludge from the grease separator by vacuum into the collec- ting tank for further treatment with the food waste.
